Snow On The Door Step

Winter's Here

Dreaded London smog
Dark, wet, tunnel like, pitch-black
Left us all agog

Hark! apparitions
Prancing low in the shadows
Are you not concerned?

Must stop, venture not
Eerie, frightful , hair on ends
Winter’s sneaking in!

Let me see the sun
Where is it in abundance ?
Langkawi , my friend!

Inspired by willows’s Magpie # 43

Nice Magpie, I had to look up Langkawi...and now I want to be there.

I love the sneaking winter. Btw, what is "langkawi"?

Oh, yes, the sneakiness of this cold season...nicely crafted!

You're longing for Langkawi and I'm dreading summer because we've had the hottest Nov on record. Swap you a bucket of snow for a bucket of sun?

Peaceful, Tess and Sue,
Langkawi is an island north of Penang on the West Coast of Malaysia. Sunny Langkawi will remind one of Hawaii, having big hotels but largely undisturbed.

kathew and Tumblewords,
slowly and surely winter's coming.

Hi Kay, In reply to your second comment on my blog, I spent the first 24 years of my life in England before emigrating to OZ. I still don't like the heat in summer, but love the rest of the seasons.
Langkawi is my sister's dream holiday.

Lovely poem.. Where is Langkawi?

Quite charming, I'm picturing exaggerated little sprites with spiky hair tiptoeing around. I live in a place where you get sick of the sun and long for snow and rain--we humans are hard to please.

Blow me down, Bro Hank, I never, never knew that you love poetry and are a poet. I've just took a crazy flight through your poems and those that I can find in Magpie and Poets Congregate (?) . and I felt so excited. I used to be a rated member of the Fanstory Club in US ( for poets, fiction writers and dramtists) but have given up for a long while. Since then I became acquainted with John Malowe and a few others poets from Australia.
Hey, your poems are really inspired and inspiring. Your Haiku "Image" captured my attention; only well-honed poet write Haikus. I've written some poems myself but more in the tradition of the old masters with rhymes and measured beat. The free verse is of course more inviting. The comments from your fellow poets say enough of the quality of your own creation. I will more of it before commenting.
Will post you a few of mine if I can have your gmail address. Meanwhile keep the Muse flowing with the songs of life and nature, buddy. Now i know who Hank is, hehehe.

I worked all over Malaysia, well mostly the east coast, but never made it to Langkawi. Maybe next year...

And yes, your poem reminds me where I'd rather be!!

Winter is a dirty word here at the moment! :)

My, we have such a wonderful crowd here. And I'm doing my bit for Tourism Malaysia. Just google for Langkawi and everything's there. We may just meet in Langkawi next year!

Sue, your sister's and even for you too! Considering Down Under is just 'nearby' it wouldn't take much to make it happen.

Lynne, you may be aware by now, it's in Malaysia

hedgewitch, we may be sharing similar conditions. I wonder where.

Helen, Rick and Jinsky, a New Year resolution come early ie Langkawi 2011. You are most welcomed, Tourist Guide, anyone?

Winter is eventual, but the sun is never too far away...

Clever Magpie!

Lovely!

I loved parts of winter, skating and snow sculpture.

Loved your poem especially the bit about Langkawi! It's been too long since we've been. Irani's favorite island - in addition to Pangkor!

Akhi Norzah,
Let me have them, it’s mhmp77@gmail.com. You have been a writer ,TV presenter and now confirmed a recognized poet. All these when we (OPs Zam, Halim and I) were still in school. The blogosphere offers an array of Poetry Blogs that can just entice you , with the whole world as a playground . It's fun. Very much different from before when only our classmates and the school magazines were the target. You know something? I think OP Halim is now game on poetry too. Check out on Dalu Dalu. He's getting the itch. What a start! He looks to be a seasoned player with just a second posting. Kindly send the poems, Akhi.

I couldn't stop myself and before I knew it I wrote three poems over the weekend. And I must say my Magpie is totally different than yours!

Ahhh, the magpies fly where they want to!

Sue - thanks for visiting

Claudia - the snow and cold still bad, huh?

Paul - Apparitions remind us of Shakespeare

Carrie - best of both worlds!
