We lead the world

Inspired and prompted by Magpie # 39

A Proud Tradition

We lead the world

At the break of dawn, at 5.30 sharp

we are up

We brace ourselves, our crown up erect

We take a stance ,

toss our head back

the melodious tune is sung

Cocker- doo-doodle do

A strange biological clock

Triggered the act

Everyday with out fail, true for a fact

Only then you humans moved

Your lazy bones to follow suit

to be up and about

though there are an odd few

who insist

of breakfast in bed

We rule the world

Through the 4 corners of the earth

Big China, India and anywhere else

The Colonel

in pure white flannel

Goateed , smiling , forever in a good mood

Its ‘finger licking good’

We decide our own destiny

We are not to be bullied

We stand proud of our reputation

We are of the most difficult species to be trained

Unlike others

who could be led by the nose

We have our own mind

Don’t Pavlov us, we’ve had enough

And another thing

Cut out that crap of ‘chicken and egg’

We’re first on the scene

A chicken can create an egg

Can an egg do the same?

Don't Pavlov us... Hah! Bah! Bravo!

I knew this prompt would have inspired you being from the Birdhouse and all that.

Now, for my first challenge to you, please visit:

Ninotaziz Ma'am, posted a haiku in response to the challenge. The image unfortunately didn't come out proper.

I don't think an egg can create an egg, but....

Dear Reflections Ma'am,
It's an age old question but the chicken is adamant!

Dear Kristen,
I'm glad!

Who wouldn't believe this arrogant leader? So darned funny...I can see the march -

Dear Tumblewords Ma'am,
So long as there are chickens and they don't chicken out.

Btw Ma'am I'm new to Haiku and Senryu ( see my posting 'Magic' following this). Poetess Ninotaziz advised me to look you up as you were instrumental in introducing Senryu to the crowd.

And thanks for dropping by.
